Le Collatéral

Like the portrait miniatures of François Dumont and Nicholas Hilliard or the subtle curves of Auguste Rodin’s “Small Torso of Iris”, the four-room Le Collatéral is a tiny triumph, a minute masterpiece with sweeping views across the French rooftops of Arles that has become a creative sanctuary filled with art and design.

Room C is the largest suite at the Collateral. The spacious sitting room features a vintage Chesterfield sofa, a modern Marcel Wanders table, and drawings by Sarah Dorp and a Formica painting. You can go either soft or bright according to your mood since all the lights are equipped with dimmers. Well, that's at dusk only, because Room C looks onto the quiet Place Patrat, which is flooded with light. A marvellous staircase leads upstairs, which has been hidden since the Middle Ages and was uncovered when the building was being renovated. At the top, a large and calm minimalist bedroom is awash in a palette of colors that evoke the salt from the Camargue region and the blue of the sky. The adjoining bathroom in tiles and massive oak has a giant mirror and a Japanese bathtub.
